If you haven’t looked at Tuesday’s BOCC Special Meeting agenda (NOTE: It starts at 9:30 a.m.), you might want to visit the site for a look/see. It’s almost as if the plan is to disassemble, reassemble, and reconstitute Park County government in what Commissioner Dave Wissel calls a “paradigm shift.” With the election of a new BOCC Chair—will it be Wissel?—we can all plan on fantastical things happening, inane pedantry from the chair, nostalgic journeys significant to no one except Ol’ Dave, and with that third MAGA vote, Jason Gemmer, blindly parroting his sexagenarian mentors, Wissel and Mitchell, whether it’s an aye or nay or head shake or nod.

BOCC work sessions and quasi-judicial meetings will no doubt become more prolonged and tedious. Wissel adores the sound of his voice.
Before we go any further here, consider the possibility that the BOCC MAGA Troika won’t name a new county manager because, with Wissel’s paradigm shift, they won’t need one. Or, if they hire somebody, they’ll significantly reduce the job’s responsibilities to that of a liaison with little authority.
It could happen, buckaroos.
Here again is the Zoom link for the agenda and meeting. (Remember, it starts at 9:30 a.m.)
Here are the telltale agenda items:
BOCC GOALS FOR 2025
AREAS OF COMMISSIONER FOCUS, INFORMATION SHARING COUNTY LEVEL:
NOTE: I’ve identified my guess as to which one will lord over what area of focus.
HHS – HHS pretty much takes care of itself.
BUILDING SERVICES (STM REWRITE, LUR REWRITE, STR ORDINANCE REWRITE, CODE ENFORCEMENT)

PUBLIC WORKS (ROADS, ROAD AND BRIDGE BUDGET)
ADMIN/CLERK/ASSESSOR (CONTRACTS, BUDGET MONITORING, STAFFING LEVELS), SHERIFF’S OFFICE/ES COUNCIL, CMRETAC-CENTRAL MOUNTAIN REGIONAL EMERGENCY TRAUMA ADVISORY COUNCIL, LWTF

The meeting will also bid farewell to Commissioner Dick Elsner. That’s the “ADJOURN SINE DIE” notation in the agenda. A legislative body that adjourns sine die is one concluding its session, never to return to it again.
